THINGS THEY SAY: HALLE BERRY ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

The World’s Most Beautiful Woman aka Halle Berry has a soft spot for women who have suffered from a black eye as well as black and blue marks at the hands of their significant others. And for that very same reason, for 10 years she’s been an avid supporter and fund-raiser for the Jennesse Center, an organization that provides support to abused women through its domestic violence intervention program. She says,

“I grew up in an abusive family. I saw firsthand the destruction that abuse can do, especially to children. I’ve always cared about women and women’s issues.” Adding, “I would clean them up, get them clothes and get them situated for their first night there. Sometimes I counsel them. They look at me as if I have all the answers. But I’m not a therapist. I just try to be an ear, be a friend, someone who they can talk to, confide in.”
