BEEF ALERT: MOS DEF DOESN’T THINK JAY-Z IS THE “GREATEST RAPPER OF ALIVE”!

Do I smell a beef brewing?! I think I so! Conscious rapper, Mos Def is in a tizzy about Jay-Z being considered the “Greatest Rapper Alive”. Wondering why?! Mos believes that Jay doesn’t deserve the title because there are rap legends such as Slick Rick and Rakim who are very much alive that are way much worthier of being called the “Greatest Rapper Alive” because they actually paved the way. Hmm…it sounds like Mos Def wants it with Hov! He says,
“My response was to me seeing an article where [Jay-Z] was referred to, with trademarks following it, as the ‘Greatest Rapper Alive’.Now that don’t have nothin’ to do with me, but if you saying that, that’s a trade claim…If you saying that, you saying you better than Slick Rick, who’s still very alive and well? You saying you better than Rakim? You saying you better than Black Thought? People making that claim have never been in a position to defend that in an open forum.”
Pop the hood for more beefing…
He adds,
“I’m not talking about making a diss record or trying to go in on somebody’s girl…When people start coming out and making claims they’re gonna have to defend, like, who have you had to defend them against? It’s certainly been with people not on your level.”
Does Mos Def have a point or is he just another miserable rapper hating on Jay-Z ?!

IMO, it’s just the fact that someone’s been called the “Greatest Rapper Alive” that bothers people…
Everybody loves different people! Some consider Jay-Z to be the best, Mos Def considers Slick Rick, Rakim or Black Thought to be the best alive…
It’s all just a matter of taste, and that has nothing to do with dissing people of not, it’s the same with Britney & Madonna & all those popstars: who is the QueenofPop?
Everyone has another opinion on what music is best FOR THEM, music is a personal choice you make for yourself & nobody should be “dissing” about that, not Mos Def either! If Jay-Z gets labeled “greatest rapper alive”, it’s not up to Mos Def to decide wether he is or not…
Just wanted to point that, because all music is different & all people are different, & IMO it’s not love nor money, but MUSIC that makes the world go round!!

He has a point. I think there are a lot of great rappers out. J hasn’t drop a hot album in how long? Yea he’s dropped a couple of lines or two… I’m not sure of who he writes for but is he still relevant? Did he tell to much of his story he’s paid now what else would we want to hear from him? How him and B make love or something?
