Nas & Kelis’ divorce is getting very ugly. Kelis is saying Nas has not offered to pay for anything and that she’s broke- “I have run out of money.” According to the filed papers, Kelis claims Nas isn’t paying her support, pre-natal expenses…NADA!
TMZ reports,

Kelis is asking the judge to order Nas to pay spousal support, child support, all pregnancy-related expenses, and one-half of all medical expenses after the child is born. She also wants $3,500 for the baby nurse after the child’s birth, and $20,000 for strollers, cribs and other baby supplies.
Kelis says she’s entitled to maintain the lifestyle to which she became accustomed during their marriage — they have five homes, fly first class, go to fancy restaurants, and on and on. Most interesting — “There were many expensive pieces [of jewelry] such as a princess-cut diamond tennis bracelet that was recently appraised for $190,000. My engagement ring is an approximately nine-carat cushion-cut diamond solitaire. I have numerous watches…such as Cartier, Rolex, Frank Muller and Chopard.”


WAIT! I don’t know what’s more surprising Nas and his 5 homes or Kelis and her $20k worth strollers…WTF?!

Kelis says,
“My survival is based on [Nas'] will at this time. If he does not want to pay for an expense, it does not get paid.”


I don’t understand how she’s run out of money…doesn’t she collect checks from her 10 years or so of artistry and royalties? Why is she seeking to depend solely on Nas’ money?

Is it me or Is Kelis being a bit excessive in her demands?!

Then again, isn’t Nas grimmey for leaving his wife without any financial support?!

I’m still trying to figure out what happened between them two to turn this into such an ugly situation!

  • They are always two sides to a story, but royalty checks are only cut 4 times a year. They are paid at the beginning of each quarter.

  • I feel you but I can’t help but side with Kelis. Don’t know exactly what went down with them, but she is pregnant with his child…she’s not some random chick he met yesterday. that’s his WIFE.

    Idk…see.that’s y its important 2 have your own because as soon as it sours, u have urself to depend on.

    Kelis may or may not have money left over but…sh*t, she’s livin the good life.

    But it sounds to me that she’s tainted from whatever he’s done and she’s doin the classic move which is 2 take his @ss through the ringer.

    Im sure he won’t go out like some sucker and really, its between them…

  • why are you surprised that nas has 5 homes? I’m sure Nas’ paper is long and strong! Whatever they are going through, I hope God sees them through, cause this sounds like a big mess! what the hell happened? They were the best hip-hop couple !

  • she cheated on him and had a sex tape with another man. i agree with nas, he may not even be sure the child is his. and she should of thought of the consequences before cheating. she deserves whatever is handed to her.
