Last night ya gurl and galpal Aishah made an impromptu cameo appearance at the Bowery Hotel. Target threw an A-list clientele party for Q-Tip in celebration of his album release for The Renaissance in NYC. DJ Scratch was on the wheels of steel while tastemakers, the Universal staff and industry insiders partied it up enjoying complimentary bubbly and tasty hors d’oeuvres. Some of Q-Tip’s homies like Nas, Nia Long, RZA, Kid Cudi, Consequence, 88 Keys, Amanda Diva, Mark Ronson, Estelle, Fonzworth Bentley, Tyson Beckford rolled through to congratulate the hip hop veteran on his new solo project.


Though there was a stage set up, Q-Tip made it clear there’ll be no performances. But after 30 minutes or so of congratulatory speeches from pals Ali Shaheed Muhammed, Talib Kweli, Mark Ronson, Rza, and Consequence, Q-Tip couldn’t resist but the roc the mic for a bit. Blessing the crowd with a few Tribe Called Quest classics and a bit of his new material off The Renaissance . While gal pal Aishah chopped it up with LowKey, Jay from Cornerstone, and Tyson Beckford…ya gurl hit the VIP section to snap the action. Peep the flicks and video footage below.

After circulating the room a few times, I spotted Kid Cudi chillen in the cut and approached him for a photo op. I also got a question in about his upcoming album and possible collaborations. “As of now, there are no features on the album yet. I’m trying to be strategic on my feature selections. They gotta go with theme of album.” A few minutes later, I spotted Jon B chillen by the bar. So of course I had to ask what’s the deal with him and Robin Thicke, did he really take jabs at Robin? “Na *laughs* What I look like taking jabs at a grown ass man!” Really Jon?! That’s not what I heard!

While Tyson & Ali were exchanging contact info, LowKey snagged a pair of Dolce shades and posed for a flick. Amanda Diva was also spotted chopping it up with Fonzworth…its all about networking people!


The night was pretty much done and over with by 12:15am…while exiting the party, galpal Aishah and I realized the downpour and became frantic at the thought of the long walk to the subway. While we busy freaking out, Steve Stoute was alongside us cracking up as he awaited his driver. He proceeded with “Is it just the two of ya?!” Unfortunately, Aishah and I were in a fret about getting soaked, we sucked it up and ran out onto the street and hailed a cab. It wasn’t until we got in the cab did we realize…”Was Steve Stoute about to offer us a ride?!” DAMN! Not that we take him up on his offer anyway…groupie status? NEVER! Anywhoo big ups to Christina @ Ariel & Phylicia @ Universal for hooking this up. Made it home by 1am, in other words…SUCCESS!
