Kanye dramatically broke down in tears Paris Saturday night during his first performance since the death of his mother, Dr. Donda West. Kanye attempted to finish the show by performing “Hey Mama” in honor of his mother, but he broke down in tears before he could even finish the song. According to Le Parisien journalist Meddy Magloire, “He said the word, ‘Mother’ and just couldn’t go any further. A back-up singer, the DJ and a guitar player came over to console him. It looked like he might collapse. He just couldn’t continue. He just stood there in a spotlight, crying while the band continued playing.” However, the band restarted the song, but Ye’ left the stage. He then put himself back together returning 10-15 minutes later to conclude the concert by performing “Stronger”. Magloire adds, ”He was very nervous, seemed to have gathered himself up, and had a lot of energy. He kept shouting out to the audience, ‘I need you… I need you right now.’ and the public was screaming back. It was magic.”
In other related news, Kanye will be in Oklahoma City on Tuesday for his mother’s funeral service which will take place at the Howard-Harris Funeral Home. As for the cause of Dr. Donda West’ death, the coroner has ruled that she most likely died of complications from the plastic surgery, but an official cause of death will not be known for at least 1 ½ months.
Ye’ keep ya head up and take some time off. Your fans will definitely understand. Granted he’s a musical genius and music is his therapy, but I just hope this crying bit doesn’t come back to haunt him. Right now, people are sympathizing with him but once this story becomes old news, will other rappers take this as an opportunity to take stabs at Kanye…I just hope not.
