Ever wondered who’s Ne-Yo’s “Miss Independent”? Well, the talented singer reveals his new album, Year of the Gentleman was actually inspired by the No. 1 lady in his life…his mother! Although he claims his role models including Prince had a big influence on him when he was growing up, but he makes it clear that the person who has had the biggest influence by far was of course his momma. She’s played such a major role in his life, he wants a woman just like her. Not a surprise, most men do! He says,

“She is the strongest woman on the face of the planet. I’ve seen her go through unimaginable obstacles, and you would never know she had a bad day in her life. I know this will sound really clichéd, but I need a woman like my mom. That’s what Miss Independent is about – a woman that can achieve anything, despite whatever.”

But he can’t find one right now, so he’s settle for dudes…
