STR8 GLOSSY: MELYSSA FORD IS WHATEVER ABOUT KAT STACKS & ‘EM! http://str8nyc.com/2010/10/15/str8-glossy-melyssa-ford-is-whatever-about-kat-stacks-em/ http://str8nyc.com/2010/10/15/str8-glossy-melyssa-ford-is-whatever-about-kat-stacks-em/#comments Fri, 15 Oct 2010 22:18:52 +0000 LexAve http://str8nyc.com/?p=42559 Tweet

Check out Melyssa Ford gracing the cover of King Magazine’s Winter Issue hitting newstands October 19th. Shouts to the homie Andreas Hale, who scooped the interview for the glossy and asked her thoughts on hungry famed broads like Kat Stacks & Montana Fishburne, who clearly have no limits on getting that fame…her response.

I’m not in the business of giving my personal opinion on somebody, especially if I don’t know them. But I will say this; I think the most addictive drug is the one that has no cure. It’s fame. I think too many are bitten by the fame bug and will do anything to maintain relevance. You begin to sell your soul. That’s not what I would do. If it floats your boat, then knock yourself out. I’m too busy with myself and my own career to worry about what somebody else is doing. I also think that when it comes to visibility you have choices. You can have it two ways, for your own self-serving purposes or you can use it to draw attention to worthwhile causes. I try to do the latter as much as I possibly can.

STR8 GLOSSY: TREY SONGZ COVERS BILLBOARD http://str8nyc.com/2010/08/09/str8-glossy-trey-songz-covers-billboard/ http://str8nyc.com/2010/08/09/str8-glossy-trey-songz-covers-billboard/#comments Mon, 09 Aug 2010 18:46:23 +0000 LexAve http://str8nyc.com/?p=41259 Tweet

With Trey Songz’ release of new album Passion, Pain and Pleasure out September 14th via Songbook/Atlantic Records, Trey is proving to all he’s going nowhere! Check out his cover story on Billboard magazine where Trey talks about his come up, sex songs, his image, new album Passion, Pain and Pleasure, & more…

On Sex Songs:

“The public likes generic more than they like to admit, so that’s what I gave them — I gave them sexual singles and they ate it up,” Songz says about the string of blatantly sexed-up hits from “Ready.” “I gave them two whole albums before this one — on one I talked about a mother’s love for her son and a father not being there, and on the other I made a song about safe sex. They were well accepted but not as much as the records on ‘Ready.’ The singles were purposely very sexual to capture people’s attention.”

On “I Invented Sex” not being a single:

“We wrote the song and sent it over to [Songz] because I thought the song was a hit and a good fit,” songwriter Carlos “Los DaMystro” McKinney says. “He demoed it, but because of politics and bullshit, [the song wasn't going to be released]. It actually leaked, and after they saw the reception it got, that’s when they decided to add it.”

“Certain people at the label didn’t believe in the record,” Songz explains. “It was said the chorus was complicated and wouldn’t do well in research at radio. We were asked to change the chorus so that the line ‘I invented sex’ came earlier. I wanted it to be a single and the label wasn’t onboard with that until after the record began to move on its own.”

On releasing “Passion, Pain and Pleasure”:

“I couldn’t release it before because I still have records in rotation on radio from ‘Ready’ that won’t go nowhere anytime soon,” Songz says. “But I didn’t ever want to wait two years in between any album. I don’t want to do this at a slow pace. You only have a window, one moment, and someone else can take my moment. I’m not about to allow that.”

STR8 GLOSSY: ERYKAH BADU COVERS VIBE JUNE/JULY ISSUE http://str8nyc.com/2010/06/08/str8-glossy-erykah-badu-covers-vibe-junejuly-issue/ http://str8nyc.com/2010/06/08/str8-glossy-erykah-badu-covers-vibe-junejuly-issue/#comments Tue, 08 Jun 2010 20:37:44 +0000 LexAve http://str8nyc.com/?p=39543 Tweet

Ms. Window Seat aka Erykah Badu graces the double cover of Vibe magazine’s June/July issue in a piece entitled “Arts & Crafts”. In the cover story, Badu talks about going naked and the importance of having a good partner….sounds like a good read.
Here are some excerpts:

“I look at some other videos. I’m not naming names, because I don’t want that to be mentioned. There is the thing with sexuality. I’m naked for 13 seconds, and these people are naked the whole time and gyrating and saying come “lick on my lollipop,” and “suck on my cinnamon roll,” and, you know, suggesting sex. People are uncomfortable with sexuality that’s not for male consumption. Could be ‘cause I did it in public too. Do you think people would have been complaining if I had on high-heel shoes?”

“I am a big fan and a supporter of [Jay Electronica's] evolution and growth as an artist. I write all his rhymes. I’m joking. [laughs] I’m always amazed and impressed with the things he comes up with. He definitely does what a partner is supposed to do, that is, evolve you.”

“I was 27 when I had Seven. I was already a vegetarian. I had been for 10 years. I had started making choices that would shape me for the rest of my life. I never thought to measure by each child. My children are six years apart. It wasn’t planned, just how the relationships rolled out. I’ve had three unorthodox marriages of sorts. I’ve had the benefit of having substantial amount of time with people, mind-building time.”

Cop the June/July issue at your local newsstand.

STR8 GLOSSY: LUDACRIS COVERS THE SOURCE http://str8nyc.com/2010/06/03/str8-glossy-ludacris-covers-the-source/ http://str8nyc.com/2010/06/03/str8-glossy-ludacris-covers-the-source/#comments Thu, 03 Jun 2010 18:08:25 +0000 skool http://str8nyc.com/?p=39151 Tweet

The June/July issue of The Source features two separate covers. Ricky Ross, the Teflon Don, is on the front of the first cover and it is now revealed that “Mr. Sex Room”, or as it appears “Mr. Ten Toes Down”, Ludacris, covers the second.

Hold up is that Rosa Acosta Luda is starring at?!

Ludacris is on some for real freaky sh*t as of late, well… as of always. remember p* popping? And then he’d hop on a track with Justin Beiber and make a conscious song like “Runaway Love” with Mary J. Blige.  He does it well though, you can’t hate. The Summer Heat issue hits newstands June 22nd.

Which cover do you like best- the Rick Ross joint or the Luda joint?

The Beyonce mania continues…with much talk about her November 18th I Am album dropping and Cadillac Records movie, Beyonce is now taking over the glossies. Here she is covering the November 2008 issue of InStyle magazine. Sure she looks beautiful as usual but still corny as hell! Maybe its the blank stares…but nothing about this spread screams fresh or new, it’s a whole lot of the same Be.
