Lupe Fiasco is back with some serious FIRE! The lyrical genius is dropping some gems & political knowledge on his second single entitled “Words I Never Said“. With help from singer/songwriter Skylar Grey, belted out the chorus “It’s so loud Inside my head/With words that I should have said!/As I drown in my regrets/I can’t take back the words I never said …”, Lupe has a got a hit! After patiently waiting for three long years, Lasers officially drops March 8th. And now that his second single has hit the nets, I’m more convinced and hyped about his return.
The track tackles issues like the war on terror, the failing economy, and education…not the latest cars, clothes, or groupie hoes. YES! FINALLY SOME SUBSTANCE! Do yourself a favor & press play…

STR8 TALK: MTV FORGIVES KANYE WEST & NOW HE’S A NEW MAN!

Almost a year to date, since the Kanye’s onstage award show rant and mic jacking from Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV VMAs. Shortly after that, MTV and the rest of America ostracized the whinning rapper. So much so it was rumored and some what confirmed MTV was just not f*cking with Kanye no more…playing America’s sweetheart, Taylor Swift, like that was just well…he crossed the line. During that time Kanye laid low, globe trotted with his then arm piece Amber Rose, produced a few hit records…but still somehow managed to keep it mum. Fast forward nearly a later, Kanye and his G.O.O.D Music group are prepping for all time GOOD Music takeover on September 14th. And after doing his thing on as a “blogger”, Kanye has finally decided to embrace the whole social media space (i.e. Twitter & Facebook) and embarked on a social media tour. All this to win the American public and media back. And tonight Kanye West finally makes amends with MTV, as MTV puts its differences and opinions to the side for ratings as it premieres Kanye’s “painting, not video” “Power” tonight at 11pm EST. Which goes to show…if you lay low long enough and keep the yapping to an all time minimum, people begin to miss you and next thing you know…”you’re back by popular demand”.
Let’s recall that moment that shunned Kanye…

And now Kanye West asks for forgiveness via Singapore performance freestyle…

“I’m so sorry to y’all, everyone one of y’all that had to fight for my name/ Everyone of y’all a year ago that I made feel ashamed,” he rapped in a freestyle. “I am the one to blame, and the people that I let down, I wanna tell you, right here, right now that I’m a new man and understand my position of power.”

So it safe to say this is a Taylor Swift/America/Fans apology?

It appears Kanye is a new man and today he’s counting his blessings even via twitter…

And even shouts out MTV for taking him back!

My take on Kanye’s comeback…well in my eyes he never left. We’re all humans and do stupid things in the heat of moment. Let the “Power” get to us and suffer the consequences in return. It’s all about learning from your mistakes. Whether or not Kanye’s using this apologetic manner to stunt his way back in good graces with the public…really doesn’t matter to me. It’s not like dude committed a crime. Yeah, he acted foolish and immature, but tell me someone who hasn’t. It still doesn’t take away from the FACT: Kanye is a musical genius. He’s a visionary…not your ordinary rapper/producer.

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard any new material from the musical genius, Lauryn Hill. Not sure how old this joint is or if it’ll be featured in her new project but it’s great to hear Ms.Hill is making her back to music…Hopefully I’ll get a chance to see her live at Rock The Bells next month.

LIL’ KIM BRINGS OUT THE DOG, DMX, AT SHOW

This past weekend Arizona fans got a special treat at Lil’ Kim’s show, when she brought out the dog aka DMX on the stage to perform their 1998 collabo classic “Money, Power, Respect” from The L.O.X.’s album. We already know Lil’ Kim is working on some new material, there’s word DMX is planning a comeback too…that ought to be TIGHT. As much as I love DMX and want him to desperately return in the game, I wonder if his time has passed. Something tells me DMX would have better luck with reality TV. #imjustsayin

KANYE WEST MAKES COMEBACK AT BET AWARDS?!

Mark your calendars, ’cause June 27th marks the official day Kanye West makes a comeback to the stage. After last year’s MTV VMA’s on stage fiasco which sparked huge controversy and an anti-Kanye national sentiment, the Louis Vutton Don took a backseat to the limelight. But after much anticipation, Mr. West is set to make his first appearance at the BET Awards 2010 going down June 27th in Los Angeles, CA. Aside from being nominated for two BET awards, including video of the year and best collaboration- he’s also at work on his fifth album. Other newly performers to the grace the stage are DJ Khaled, Drake, Ludacris, Rick Ross, and others.
Funny how now that white America pretty much hates Kanye West….he’s come crawling back to the audience that still tolerates him…BET.
