DEATH ROW “FORGOT ABOUT DRE”…WANTS THEM TO PAY UP!
Dr. Dre claims Death Row Records forgot about him so as payback he slapped them with a lawsuit to make sure they remember him. Yesterday, the rapper/producer filed suit against the label at L.A. Federal Court claiming since he dropped the label in 1996 he hasn’t seen any checks come his way. Apparently, the new owners of Death Row released a collectors album of his iconic The Chronic as well as a greatest hits album without his approval and he wants his cut. In a statement to the judge presiding over the case, Dre’s lawyer Howard King says,
“When it came to paying artist royalties and honoring limits on Dr. Dre recordings that could be released, the “new” Death Row Records, to quote our client, ‘forgot about Dre’. This lawsuit will make sure they remember.”
Dre is suing his former label for more than $75,000 for breach of contract, false advertising and trademark infringement.
Why is Death Row still around? Do they even have artists on their roster?
