STOP THE IGNORANCE: A LOOK @ HAITI’S IMMENSE HISTORY…
As you all are aware, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit the Caribbean island of Haiti leaving death and destruction in its path. Thousands are either dead or homeless. And even during this time, ignorance still prevails. Televangelist Pat Robertson had the nerve to open up his mouth and say that Haiti made a pact with the devil and that is the very reason why Mother Nature let out such a devastating cry–calling this calamity a “blessing in disguise”. Pure stupidity!
Well, I’m here to clear up all the misconceptions about this beautiful island filled with strong and beautiful people.
One thing you may not know is that Haiti was born out of struggle, and will definitely persevere from Tuesday’s drastic earthquake. The Haitians are a strong group of people who contrary to what many believe have deep religious faith and have a great sense of national pride. Back in 1804, the Haitians accomplished something that no other people in world history ever have—a successful national slave revolt. But, did you know that Haiti helped Simon Bolivar of Bolivia fight for its independence from Spain? Did you that Haiti was once the RICHEST island in the Caribbean? Did you know that Jean Baptiste Pointe du Sable, a Haitian man discovered Chicago, Illinois?
Many blame Haiti for why its impoverished; however blame the greedy “westerners” for sucking her dry of her beauty and riches. Blame France for punishing her by cutting off all international ties of trade. The Haitians were forced to pay the French government $150 million to compensate the French plantation owners for their “financial” loss in exchange for France’s recognition of Haiti’s independence. France even went as far as placing Haiti on a list of the most “undesirable” countries not to be visited, thus affecting the country’s tourism which in effect placed a major strain on Haiti’s economy. The French should be paying Haiti reparations for its brutality and cruelty against her people. Blame the “western world” for turning their backs on her solely because her people proved they could successfully resist colonization. And even after Haiti received its independence in 1804, she wasn’t even recognized by her neighbor– the United States for 60 years! Guess, this is how you repay a country that helped fight for FREEDOM from the British in the American Revolutionary War and even the U.S. Civil War against slavery. Not to mention, the United States is so quick to close its doors to Haitian refugees who make their way onto U.S. soil every day.
So, the world owes Haiti and she desperately needs OUR HELP!
Open up a book and learn about your history and not what these “westerners” want you to believe! So when all you can think about is calling your brothers and sisters in Haiti “devil worshippers” or Haitian “booty scratchers” think twice ’cause had it not been for them you would still be picking cotton on a plantation somewhere.
Here’s the Haiti that is NEVER shown…
My readers were mad that I even posted Pat Robertson and Rush Limbaugh. I got more e-mails saying they were not worth the energy. They are right. Just a way to get more attention, and attract more crazy people to their hateful agenda.

Through their quest for attention, they’re helping to spread ignorance.

HAITI IS FULL OF RICH AND FACINATING HISTORY , I AM PROUD TO HAVE DERIVED FROM A PEOPLE WHO ARE SO DIVERSED , APPELLING , AND EVEN FEARED BECAUSE OF THERE STRENGTH . EDUCATION , UNDERSTANDING , OPENED MINES, AND PURE COMPASSION IS SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT WAYS TO FIGHT AGAINST IGNORANCE SUCH AS RUSH LIMBAUGH AND HIS SOCIAL FOLLOWERS

Haiti Cherie>>Proud to be Haitian. i don’t care what no body said, i love my country. i was born & raise in Haiti and im very proud of it. One day, these people who’s always talking bad about Haiti would see the true beauty of this country. Just left everything to God. His gonna take care of everything. He always does.

I believe in right and wrong. The French and Americans were wrong in enslaving the Haitians; Haitians were wrong in committing their souls to the “devil” it is not so much the earthquake…it’s whatever curse is attached to one’s committment to the “underworld” maybe Haiti wants to turn away from witchcraft, but somebody doesn’t like it. Haiti must denounce witchcraft from a Church and State level and we will see a turn around. USA and France must repay the huge debt they owe to Haiti, both in Cash and in kind. May God bless Haiti.

Wow, lets forget the Haiti elected officials that operessed the country and ripped it off and killed democracy for the last 200 plus years. Blame the world for the problems and expect that the world owes Haiti? Needs help sure, just like Sri Lanka and and all the other locations of disaster. But don’t start blaming westerners when you use a single idiot like Pat Robertson as your example. You’re as prejediced as he is.

The US helped put those officials in place, remember what they did in Cuba? If u read ur history books, the US helped put Fidel Castro is power and once he showed his true “communism” colors the US became his enemy. Did u know that the US militarily occupied Haiti for over 19 yrs? During which they helped create the very Haitian army that for decades propped up brutal dictatorships, orchestrated coups-d’état, and terrorized innocent Haitians – all with U.S. support. As for Haitians committing their souls to underworld, pure rubbish. Every country has a form of “witchcraft”, Brazil practices santeria, so does Cuba, Dominican Republic and other parts of the world. All we can say is God created this to get the world’s attention.

This might sound crazy but I kind of agree with what he said. It’s no secret unless you just don’t know, most of the citizens of the country DO practice witch craft. Some of whom live in the US and travel to Haiti for that paticular reason. I have a friend whose mother was murdered by way of voodoo that was placed on her by a family member. So surely the practicing of this craft plays a big part in why the country is constantly facing hardship, that and the fact that they have seen dark days being that they were the first black country to be free of dictatorship. At the same time I also do believe that the earthquake was a blessing in disguise. No one cared for Haiti before the quake and this is not the first natural disaster it has seen. Now that they are getting immense funds from the US and other countries, they may be able to rebuild bigger and better. It’s not ignorance on his part its ignorance on those who are just jumping on the bandwagon not knowing sh*t about the culture. I don’t think they made a pack with the devil, but I do believe that their voodoo practices maybe being payed by the constant destruction of the country.

Contrary to all historically or religiously believe. Haiti did make a pact with da devil with the aid of da strongest n biggest mambo for it freedom 200 odd years ago. Yes the haitians did try to break dat pact a little over ten years ago. But the evil they embraced unfortunetly doesnt want to let go. U cant praise god n succumb to practicing withcraft n especially to harm ur own ppl with it. Believe me im devasted about wat happened to my country da city i was born at. But even with the education n knowledge i have on haitis history i also lived, breathed, and observed da culture n have been da victim of withcraft as a small child. Have family who themselves practice it and my mom who has been telling me da history of its madness since i was young to know enough dat this earthquake and da many lost from it is a result of dat pact made. Da deities are angry and they want to feast on souls. Period!
