YOUR CALL TO ACTION: RELIEF FOR HAITI…WE NEED YOU!
Martine Cauthen, one of my best friends and the woman that started AllThatsFab.com with me (I am also a blogger for those that don’t know) has been living in Haiti for the past few months teaching and spending time with her family. We are glad to finally hear that she is okay, and she has been keeping us updated via the internet about the extreme conditions that are surrounding her. She is now working for a LEGIT organization to which you can donate directly through paypal. She sent out the following e-mail letter last night:
As everyone knows, fortunately I’m okay. My aunt and I were able to run outside in the middle of the street during the quake. Fortunately my little cousin was 3 cars ahead of 7 or 8 cars that had rocks collapse on top of them—still no word if those people survived. (pray for them). Communication is starting now in Haiti—and it seems we’ve lost a lot people.
But there are still hundreds buried underneath the rubble and rushed to the nearest hospital (well not really rushed, there’s no transportation–ppl are walking and traveling far distances, i dont know how they are making it). The hospitals are unsanitary with bloody needles on the ground, re-used knives and scissors–it’s just a horrible sight.
As I watched and helped doctors sew limbs back together–the patients had VERY VERY little anesthesia–they could feel everything and it was obvious they were excruciating pain.
This is where i worked yesterday and I know if you donate it will go straight to the organization. Everyone is asking me if I need anything–No, I personally don’t. As our house in Kenscoff is in very bad condition and we can’t sleep in it–I am currently staying at a friend of a friends house which seems pretty safe. The only way you can help me is if you donate here.
There are a lot of false reports via twitter and other organizations, but being here in Haiti I can tell you the real place to donate. I plead that you pass this email on.
Thank you and pls Pray for my country–
Baptist Haiti Mission is a legit organization, and they are in desperate need of medicine more than anything else. Please pass this message along and spread the word, for every little bit counts.
You can also check out and donate to her uncle’s organization, Fondation Rose Et Blanc
You can also keep up with Martine for more info at Twitter.com/MartineATF.
Thank you for your time.
