MARY J. BLIGE REFLECTS ON PAST FASHION NO-NO’S…

The Queen of Hip-hop Soul Mary J. Blige recently released her ninth album entitled Stronger With Each Tear–being in the game for over 17 years there’s no denying that she’s putting these young R&B to shame! In a recent interview with the Associated Press, MJB talked about remaining relevant, R&B music, and the evolution of her style. Check out these interesting excerpts:

AP: How do you think your fashion style has evolved?

Blige: I mean I’ve had some disasters, some trials, some errors, some disastrous hair moments and clothing moments, but that’s due to the insecurity in me and not knowing what works for me and trying to do what works for everybody else. But once you fall into what works for you, which is what I did, you can’t go wrong unless you just want to go wrong.

AP: What advice do you have for insecure women who dress in a way they probably shouldn’t dress?

Blige: I guess the insecure younger woman, just do what works for you because everything doesn’t work for everyone. You know exactly what works for you. You know if you can wear something tight and formfitting and it be hot, or you know if you’re going to wear something tight and you’re going to be bubbling all over the place. So I mean, use your common sense and be confident in that.

I totally agree with Mary with regards to using common sense when choosing an outfit. Just ’cause it looks good on Beyonce doesn’t mean it’s going to look good on you. But, it looks like common sense really ain’t that common ’cause these chicks would’ve used theirs before they stepped out of their cribs looking a hot ass mess. Here’s a word of advice ladies, if you’re going to attempt to channel your inner Beyonce–do it right!
