Last night ya gurl attended Rihanna’s MySpace Release show. The exclusive event was broadcasted live on her Myspace via a live video-feed. All the bloggers including LowKey, Danica, Nigel D, TheFlyGirl, Rae Holiday, Jusdaremix, Andrew from The Next2Shine came out for the swag princess. Other A-list atendees included CEO of Island Def Jam Music Group L.A. Reid, DJ Khaled, Chrisette Michelle and the Hot 97 crew. Although Rihanna performed on stage for less than 45 minutes, the crowd was extra live from beginning to end. Some folks were outside the Hammerstein Ballroom waiting to see RiRi since 9am. CRAZY! The Hammerstein Ballroom was packed with industry, press, wannabees and downright hardcore fans. I arrived at the venue at 7pm and luckily managed to get a ticket thanks to the good folks at Digiwaxx (shouts to Autumn & Kasey).
After about 30 minutes of waiting outside, I began getting restless and a bit impatient…even contemplated calling it a night, when suddenly myself and the whole blogger crew worked our way in and bypassed the security check point. Once inside, the blogger crew parted ways, some got their spot up front, while others hit the bar…lush at heart. DJ kept the crowd moving and entertained as we counted down for RiRi to hit the stage…finally Hot 97′s Angie Martinez came out and introduced the queen of the night.
I gotta admit after all these years of doubting Rihanna and her musical ability…last night she did impress me. I kidunot. Granted she’s no Beyonce, but the girl can carry a note and put on a show. My only beef with the show 1: It was super short and 2: Couldn’t she get Jay-Z or Young Jeezy to make an appearance…I’m saying you’re Rihanna, make it happen!
Woop woop!
