Everyone knows Beyonce’s showmanship is insane…from the tight choreography, to the costumes, to the singing, and overall stage presence…Bey or rather “Sasha Fierce” kills it everytime, especially when the “Single Ladies” anthem comes on…it’s a WRAP! But at this year’s MTV European Music Awards, Beyonce performance of “Sweet Dreams” was stellar than expected. Aside from looking jaw dropping gorgeous in the red lingerie, the “Sweet Dreams” overall performance was weak. The dancing was mediocre and incomplete. At the end of the set, I wasn’t sure if she was finished or was she about break-out into her “Single Ladies” routine. Both vocally and visually it rocked but the ending seemed awkward. Maybe “Sweet Dreams” is just one of those songs not meant to be performed live but rather something to jam to alongside the video and in the club. Or maybe Beyonce should invest in a new choreographer with a new vision for this specific song. Every since she’s raised the bar on female entertainers & performances, we expect Bey to be just as good if not better than her last performances. But then again, divas can’t be on it all the time, or can they?
who cares about Beyonce? is she so big to discuss every performence and every picture of her? dont think so. Alicia is big too and she isnt getting recognized from the blogs at all. Alicia is one of the hardest working women 2009 but i only read Beyonce, bey..bey.. etc. Why? And beyonce performed last year at the emas too! Is she performing every year? lame. just like her relationship with jay-z. LAME!
damn @Alicia is a hard working women too! tell me how you really feel. Lol…j/k I feel on Alicia being hard working woman too. Not knocking her at all…she’s on her grind too.
how the hell am I a hater…I’m a die hard Beyonce fan and just want Bey to keep doing her thing. This performance ain’t no where near her best performances…
Not everyone has to sing and dance at the same time I like Alicia keys, Monica, Mary J. Blige etc they are some of the few REAL ARTIST we have left and I’m not a fan of Beyonce’s and I don’t know her to love her or hate her, but I think she is very talented and beautiful as well as others I hate that there has to be competition between female artist there is plenty of room for all of them this industry would suck if everybody was doing the same ole thing and that’s why some females don’t sing and dance because we need those type of artist who you can just sit back and listen to close your eyes and think for a second I appreicate all types of artist not just one so why is it so hard for yaw to give props to all female singers!!! I don’t see any of yaw trying to do what they can do!!!!
@Racheal- I completely agree with you…there is and needs to be more of a range in female artistry in this biz, everyone can’t and shouldn’t be Beyonce. She does what she does b/c she’s good at it…could she pull off what Erykah Badu or Jill Scott do and vice versa, I doubt it. But right now we live in an age where it’s all about perception. Today’s female artist (at least in the hip hop/ r&b world) in order to reach that level needs to have her image on point. Today’s generation is all about what the artist looks like than rather about the music…sad. But I’m sure the tied will turn, it always does. As for what ya’ll consider “hate” on this site, its more constructive criticism. Not all criticism will be 100% positive, there are times when these artists & celebrities need to be called out and we request they step it up, especially if they want consumers to jump on the band wagon. As an avid music lover, in an age where everything is about perception and the best package…a pretty face and lil’ booty shaking w/mediocre vocals just doesn’t cut on Str8NYC. If your work ethic is point, it’ll show. Alicia Keys, MJB and other females get love on this site too, don’t get it twisted.
sick of Bey, so call me a hater! She is talented, but she is not better than Jill, India or Erykah, but she has great marketing and is linked to a very powerful force, so she gets all the shine! SHe is a performer and that is it!
I thought Beyonce’s performance was very good. I didn’t get it until the very end of her performance that she ended it like a dream. You have to image if you are dreaming and then you awake from that dream, she didn’t want the dream to end because it was a sweet dream for her. Brillent, I got it. Beyonce always set’s the bar high for all entertainers, even herself. Who would have thought performing as if your’e in a dream. You go Beyonce your’s the best.
Funny how people say people don’t get she is waking up from a dream and she sets the bar, but most of her performances don’t even make sense, are all the same, and are pointless how is that setting the bar? How is her waking up from a dream setting the bar for others Beyonce was not the first female to do everything she is doing she maybe the only female who is singing and dancing at the same time now(at least I think she is), but Janet, Tina, Aaliyah, even Selena and others have already set the bar for female singers to dance and sing at the same time sorry it’s true!!!
