Is Jim Jones a one hit wonder? Is he a harlem thug? These questions and others are answered in the new Damon Dash-produced documentary called, “This is Jim Jones.”
Dame Dash heads one of the industries illest marketing campaigns since Ryan Leslie’s internet takeover. You guys remember Dame Dash? He was the brianchild behind the original blueprint Jay-z. “This is Jim Jones” clears up many misconceptions about Roc-a-fella and Dipset and of course his estrangement from Cam’ron.
But with this all these issues addressed, those this documentary mark the making of a new king of New York? One of my favorite scenes was when Rick Ruben blesses Jim Jones with a beat while they both sat in an all white Range Rover. Very unconventional but that sums up Rick Ruben.
Unlike Ryan Leslie’s prominent & genius online viral campaign, Jimmy takes his marketing efforts to the next level. A campaign combining grassroots marketing on three platforms, c“This Is Jim Jones” the documentary, Hip Hop Monologues- the play, and the Pray IV Reign the album. I really think Christina Milian should take notes. You dont evolve as an artist if you dont change your process as a person. Life is a hustle and is ever changing just like the hip hop game… Definitely a must see! “This Is Jim Jones” will be in stores May 12th, so go cop it!
