St. Lunatic Nelly is back with a blazing new track “Just A Dream” and is prepping the release of his new album 5.0. Complex magazine recently caught up with the Midwest rapper to talk about a few things including his on-and-off again relationship with Ashanti. This summer, Nelly and Ashanti were spotted at T.I. and Tiny’s wedding holding hands which set off speculation that the two were back on again. Well, according to Nelly he’s focused on his career right now and Ashanti’s focused on handling her business as well.

Complex: Yeah. This kind of goes along with that. I don’t know what your relationship with Ashanti is like or what led to an alleged breakup, but then the gossip sites will say you said that you’re back together and have pictures of you two holding hands at T.I. and Tiny’s wedding. Is it an on-and-off situation because you’re not good at cutting people if they don’t hurt you, personally?

Nelly: We never admitted that we were together or back together or separated, but we heard that. Only thing we ever said was we friends and it’s the same way now. I’m focused on 5.0. I got an album coming out on November 16th, she’s working on her project right now.

Complex: But are there things that happened in the relationship that have gotten you to a point where you’re not going to be dealing with her in the same capacity?

Nelly: It’s not like that. My ultimate goal and our ultimate goal is to be individuals, to sustain what we been able to sustain. You wanna make sure that when you get into a time and place that you’re able to do what you need to do, and right now, that’s my album. You don’t want to be into a situation where you do an hour-long interview and 45 minutes is based on something and you’re like, “Yo, what about this?” And that’s something that we’ve been able to maintain. Like, whatever becomes of our relationship. Whatever, whenever, or however, that’s going to be something that we’re going to do and we’re going to judge. It’s not going to be manipulated by outside people looking in, who don’t even know what the fuck is going on. I think that the only way you can maintain that is to just do what you do. I have to be Nelly. She got to be Ashanti.

If these two want to be like Jay-Z and Beyonce and keep their relationship a mystery…well good for them. But, there can only be one Jay and B! I’m pretty sure Nelly is still tapping that anyway…

Are you coppin’ T.I.’s King Uncaged?

After being locked up for seven months, T.I. couldn’t wait to get back to the bottle poppin’ and club hoppin! Word is earlier this week, the rapper partied his a$$ off with his crew at 1Oak in NYC.

“He got behind the deejay booth with DJ Sal Morale and yelled, ‘I’m king, and I’m back!’” says a snitch. “The deejay then played T.I.’s song ‘I’m Back,’ and the crowd went wild.”

Earlier this week, Essence magazine claimed that T.I. and his baby mama Tiny tied the knot several weeks ago in a private ceremony in Miami. It was speculated that the two rushed down the aisle because T.I. would be going to the pen this month. However, T.I.’s mouthpiece Sydney Margetson has informed Sister to Sister magazine that the rumors are “absolutely not true”. Either way, what’s taking T.I. so long to make things between him and Tiny official?! They’ve been together since like forever and he keeps knockin’ her up, so one would think that he’d make her wifey by now.

BET has T.I.’s bust it baby Tameka “Tiny” Cottle and Lil Wayne’s first baby mama Antonia “Toya” Carter on deck for their own reality series simply called “Tiny and Toya”. The network reports,

“Tiny and Toya” is the network’s latest provocative half hour docu-drama chronicling the lives of “two dynamic, young women immersed in the craziness of the Hip Hop world, but striving to find inner strength, peace and purpose. On the surface, their real-life story plays out like an urban fairytale — both women falling in love with two of Hip Hop’s most successful princes (T.I. and Lil Wayne) and living the life of the rich and famous.”

The show will be based in Atlanta and it will follow both T.I. and Lil Wayne’s success as well as their recent legal woes. Apparently, Tiny and Toya are “tired of being defined by others (in the shadow of their high profile men),” so they are determined to showcase who they really are and rely on each other and the strength from within to find their purpose and build a brighter future for themselves and their families. Each episode will show these baby mama’s grinding to create their own businesses.

BET will air a preview special on Monday, June 15 at 10pm followed by a sneak peek on Sunday, June 28 right after the BET Awards. “Tiny and Toya” will make their TV debut on Tuesday, June 30 at 10 pm.

Real talk, BET needs to stop putting garbage on television. No disrespect to Tiny and Toya, but what makes them worth 30 minutes of my time?!
