Not only did our favorite MC Barbie take away the Video Music Award for Best Hip Hop Video last night, but she also debuted her new dramatic, post apocalyptic video for the song “Fly,” featuring Rihanna. The video is full of disaster, plane wrecks, couture get-ups and whole lot of mean mugging for the camera.

Realtalk…I could’ve done without this video. Nothing but just another photoshoot brought to life. And what’s with the latex bodysuit and ninjas…where do ninjas fight in all of this. Shouts to the director and Barbie team for thinking this one through! NEXT!

You might have missed it when it leaked last December, Kanye’s “Monster” featuring Jay-Z x Rick Ross x Nicki Minaj is back on the nets…this time the director’s cut verison. Along with such heavy weights in the video, there’s plenty of scantily-clad thin models, zombies, and bloodsuckers. Kanye makes sure to protect his art piece by making this disclaimer: “The following content is in no way to be interpreted as misogynistic or negative towards any group of people.”

Surely the fellas fully enjoyed the backshots courtesy of Nicki Minaj.

STR8 TALK: NICKI MINAJ + BRITNEY SPEARS FAIL AT BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS!

Last night the annual BillBoard Music Awards went down. The show opened up with Rihanna & Britney Spears…let’s just say it there was loads of lip synching, gyration, and all but uncomfortable to watch.

Later on into the award show, Nicki Minaj hit the stage to perform “Super Bass”, which overall was just “SUPER WACK!” Call me a hater, say what you want but Nicki has no stage presence. All that fake ass couldn’t make up for her weak performance last night. Even the lap dance was LAME! Really!
But despite having a lame set, Nicki somehow managed to outdo Britney Spears. WOW! Poor Brit Brat, just can’t seem to save herself these days. Seriously why bring out Britney, if she’s just gonna make it an EPIC FAIL!

STR8 SNITCHIN’: NICKI MINAJ SMARTENS UP AND DROPS DIDDY!

Nicki was not about to fall victim to Diddy’s weak management skills. According to XXL, Nicki has traded Diddy as manager for Hip-Hop Since 1978, the same firm that manages Drake & Lil’ Wayne.

Although the reason for her departure isn’t clear, another source tells XXL that Minaj was under the impression that Diddy would be more hands-on with her career, but was disappointed when she realized it wasn’t the case.

Apparently, according to the source, there are no hard feelings between Nicki Minaj, Diddy and Cruz.

Glad to hear Nicki smartened up about dealing with Diddy. We all know his managing skills are weak. Sure he makes you hot for a like a second, he cashes in his check, and chucks a duece. Think about it…where are these artists now?

STR8 TALK: WHY NO FEMCEES ON XXL’S FRESHMAN COVER?

Earlier this week, XXL magazine debuted its 2011 “Freshman Class” issue featuring a bunch of dudes–some of whom I’ve never seen or even heard of it. It’s kinda crazy how I had to dissect the cover by using Google to figure out who majority of the guys were, aside from Yelawolf, Diggy, Lil Twist and Cyhi The Prince. To be honest, the cover is straight up garbage! And I honestly don’t know why half of these guys even made the cover, like Mr. “Toot it & Boot it” aka YG. Is this really the future of Hip-hop? ‘Cause if it is, then we’re in serious trouble! Anywhoo, let me get to the real topic at hand–where are the female rappers? This is the fourth year XXL has left out the femcees. Over 3 million people live in the United States, and you mean to tell me there aren’t any dope female rappers out there?

Nicki Minaj is doing her thing right now, so why is it that female rappers are still being treated like they’re outcasts?

What’s your take on this lackluster cover?

So are Drake and Nicki getting it in? Or they just playing kissing cousins for fun? Whatever the case is…one thing is for sure, Nicki had only one leading man in mind, Drake.
“Out of everyone I’ve shot a video with, I was most comfortable with [Drake],” the hip-hop princess told MTV News. “I just always have a special place for him.”

STR8 SNITCHIN’: DID DRAKE UNDERESTIMATE NICKI’S SUCCESS?!

This just in…MTV sent over an email letting us know tomorrow at 7:54pm on MTV, Nicki Minaj will premiere her highly anticipated new video “Moment 4 Life” featuring her “boo”, Drake. The clip, which was shot in December in Los Angeles, features Young Money labelmate Drake and is rumored to show the pair playing up their “are they or aren’t they?” relationship with a kiss.
When MTV News’ Sway spoke to Drake on the set of “Moment 4 Life,” the MC compared the success of his and Minaj’s debut albums to Weezy’s opening-week sales of Tha Carter III, saying each subsequent project further cemented the collective’s status.

“I think it’s crazy that somehow, some higher power brought all these individuals together,” Drake said. “I remember being on the [tour] bus when Wayne played me Tha Carter III, which went on to sell a million copies in one week. Then it was Thank Me Later. It was this big pressure, and that went on to sell what it did.

“And now,” he continued, “to think of the girl that I used to ride the bus with — and that’s what she was to me: this girl that I rode the bus with. I was like, ‘Female rap?’ And I’m being dead honest with you. [I thought,] ‘Man, it’s been a while since there’s been a female rapper, and I’m curious to see how this works.’ It’s not that I didn’t believe. And she was probably looking at me like, ‘This Jew from Canada: I don’t know.’ ”

Definitely appreciate his honesty. But to have a label mate not fully believe in you…must kinda suck. Then again, most people didn’t believe Nicki was gonna make it. Now she’s platinum status…she’s a monster. Str8 talk, I’d more hype to see “Roman’s Revenge”. #imjustsayin
