Wendy is a walking testament that true talent will prevail. From radio, to books, and now TV…she really is the Queen of All Media! After only a couple of trial weeks, The Wendy Williams daily TV Talk program is officially headed for broader TV distribution. THAT’S MAJOR!!!

According to Fox, the program posted rating increases in key demos during the May sweeps in both New York and Los Angeles. “Everything about the Wendy preview clicked for our stations, from conception to promotion to hitting the air. It completely broke the mold. The show is now a proven winner, and we can’t wait to see it debut across the country next year,” said Frank Cicha, senior vp of programming for Fox Television Stations.

C’mon people say it with me…HI HATERS! Go ‘head Wendy…she’s really killing it!

MASTER P CHALLENGES BET WITH NEW VENTURE…

Percy Miller aka Master P is expanding his mogulness by launching a family friendly African American-targeted cable net in 2009 called Better Black Television or BBTV.

Better Black Television, set to begin in 2009, will provide “positive content for a black and brown culture,” according to a company statement, and unofficially compete with Black Entertainment Television for viewers.

But don’t get it twisted Miller assures he still has “a great relationship with BET and MTV” and that he and his son, Lil’ Romeo, “will continue to do work with them and support their networks.” He also gave props to BET founder Bob Johnson.

“I remember him telling me back in the day that if you wanted to know real estate, you’ve got to hang out with real estate investors. If you wanted to know sports, you’ve got to hang out with athletes. I wanted to know TV, so I hung out with Bob and learned the TV game from one of the best in the business.”

As for BBTV, Miller says:

“We believe TV content can be positive and responsible and still have good ratings.”

Percy will serve as chairman/CEO of the net and advisory board members include actors Denzel Washington and Will Smith.

With TV One doing its thing and BBTV ready to launch, will BET be around much longer? I’m saying…isn’t enough…enough?!

Author: LexAve  //  Category: Idiot Box, New Video, Tune-In

Why didn’t anyone tell me Carmelo Anthony had a reality show coming out?! The show I believe is entitled “Carmelo’s Way.” Wonder if LaLa will make any appearances? Anywhoo, the show will premiere on the BET Networks channel BET J. On Carmelo’s website it explains,

After a 2007 NBA Season filled with career highs, unfortunate lows, and constant change, Carmelo prepares for life in 2008 and beyond, with a new approach to the game and a new perspective on life. He begins to realize people know Melo, but do they really know Melo?

What do you think of Carmelo as a reality star? In the words of Nigel D, is this poppin’ or floppin’?

For all you non-ATLIENS and you missed Monica’s new reality show “The Single: Monica” on Peactree TV, check out the full episode over at DimeWars. From what I say and heard…Keyshia Cole might have to take the backseat on this one, cause Monica is showing some real raw emotion for the tube…and real recognize real!

Towards the end of the show, Monica finally chose her lead single “Still Standing” featuring Ludacris. Though the song struck a chord with Mo’ causing her to shed some tears and emotion, J Records execs didn’t co-sign it. Take a listen to the joint below and speak your piece…

WANT 2 KNOW WHAT IT’S LIKE 2 BE BLACK IN AMERICA?!

Ever wondered how other blacks feel about living in the good ole’ U.S.A? Well, tune in tonight to watch CNN’s interesting 4 hour documentary series entitled “Black in America” which examines what it’s like to be a black person living in America. Part 1 of the documentary, “The Black Woman & Family” touches on the varied experiences of black women and families as well as investigating the reasons behind single homes, racial disparities between students and the impact of HIV/AIDS in the black community. Part 2 of the documentary which airs on July 24, “The Black Man” evaluates the state of black men in America and explores the controversial topics of black men and fatherhood, disparities between blacks and whites in education, career and financial achievement, and factors leading to why so many of our brothers are locked up. The documentary also examines the achievements of black men and the importance of the positive influences of black fathers. A must-see!

 TUNE IN JULY 23RD & 24TH @ 9pm ET/PT on CNN!

Sidebar: Check out this comment by a loyal reader/super producer DDub:

“I’m not feeling the way CNN chose to shine a light on this topic. Being Black is not an experiment gone wrong. We are not to be studied, just want to be considered and not only when there is a black candidate running for office. We are not only black once every couple of years, we are black all day every day. It’s ironic how CNN wants to address the situation of blacks … when there is a black man running for president. It seems like they only concentrate on us when we are running for something or better yet running from something. Maybe the media should take some time and figure out why AMERICA itself is in this situation. Not every black person in America is from a single parent home and criminal minded. Why is the media always portraying us as ‘the other’? ”
