Last night ya gurls LexAve & J’More attended Consequence’s Exclusive listening session for his forthcoming mixtape “Movies on Demand”. Where the G.O.O.D artist gave us an exclusive screening of his new video featuring Asher Roth “Childish Games” directed by Rik Cordero.

Overall the event was a huge successs, plethora of bloggers & industry folks accompanied by loads of complimentary drinks. We even got a chance to chop it up with Mr.Cons and asked him about his thoughts on the XXL’s new Freshman class of 2010. Here’s what he had to say…

JAY-Z REALLY RUNS THIS TOWN…NEW YORK CITY THAT IS!

New Yorkers are known for their inherent hustler mentality…aka natural born hustlers. It’s true what they say if you can make it here–chances are you can make it anywhere! Make no mistake, fellow New Yorkers Hip-hop pioneer Russell Simmons, rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs and countless others have made it through the concrete jungle, but no other New Yorker embodies the rags to riches story like Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter. Jay-Z went from hustling on the streets of Brooklyn to running the streets of New York City! We’ve rounded up five reasons why Jay-Z without question “runs this town”.

5. Jay-Z the giver- Although he’s sitting on top of the Forbe’s list and has sold over 40 million records worldwide, Jay-Z hasn’t lost sight of his roots. He’s from Marcy son and he makes sure that he reminds people where he’s from. Through his “Shawn Carter Scholarship Fund”, Jay-Z gives many underprivileged inner city kids a chance to acquire higher education by paying for their college tuition. And during the holiday season, Jay-Z surprises the kiddies at Marcy Projects by playing jolly ol’ Saint Nick.

4. Rocawear- Jay-Z launched his very own clothing line Rocawear in 1999 along with former business partner and friend Damon Dash and ever since the company has been a major staple in urban street wear. Not to mention the company is housed right in the heart of New York City.

3. Big Pimpin’ baby!- Jay-Z is co-owner of The 40/40 Club, one of NYC’s top notch sports bars. Although they’re a bit pricey, patrons keep flocking ’cause one thing’s for sure you never know who you’re going to see at the 40/40.

2. He’s a business MAN!- Jay-Z has a lot of love for his borough and is very influential in putting Brooklyn on the map literally. He’s part-owner of the New Jersey Nets and is involved in bringing the NBA team to Brooklyn. Brooklyn hasn’t had a professional team since the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles and now the Brooklyn Nets are making their debut possibly in 2011. Word is Jay-Z is really involved in running NYC as he’s involved in a few real estate deals around the city.

1. The best to EVER do it- Who else can have Oprah in the projects drinking quarter waters on the steps and sell out the world’s famous arena in seconds? Umm…nobody, but Jigga man! Last week, Str8NYC was in the building to witness Hov’s massive takeover of Madison Square Garden which is now officially “the house that Hov built”!

WE PREDICTED IT AND IT HAPPENED…LIL’ WAYNE ROCKED JAY-Z MSG CONCERT!

Yesterday news broke about Weezy’s delayed jail sentencing, coincidentally on the same day Jay-Z and friends were to rock the MSG stage in NYC. One extra day of freedom and what does Lil’ Wayne do? He makes a surprise guest appearance during Young Jeezy’s set at Jay-Z’s concert. Are we surprised? Not really, we called it yesterday. Peep the video clip below of Lil’ Wayne “Going In”.

Jeezy came out about 45 minutes into Jay-Z’s set to perform “Real as It Gets.” Hov then turned the reins over to Jeezy, who threw out a few of his street-approved rhymes, like his verse on Shawty Lo’s “Dey Know.” Jeezy told the crowd that his friend Lil Wayne was supposed to go to jail that day, but a courthouse fire delayed his sentencing on weapons charges once again. Jeezy said he wanted to bring someone out to dedicate a record to him. Nicki Minaj then came out and did her verse from “Bedrock.”

After the song, Jeezy told Nicki to stay, and the beat for “I’m Goin’ In” came on. Lil Wayne then emerged from the mini-stage where Jay’s Roc Boys band was playing and jumped on the main stage with Jeezy. The concertgoers — who were already on their feet — gave the New Orleans native a phenomenal response. Wayne’s face lit up as he rapped his verse.

Drake then came out, breaking the night’s all-black dress code by wearing all white instead. The crowd gave Drizzy loud approval during his verse. Young Jeezy closed the song out, and all three men yelled the chorus: “I’m goin’ in, I’m goin’ in, and I’mma go hard!” Source

NYC ARE YOU READY FOR JAY-Z?!…’CAUSE WE ARE!

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s going down tonight live at the world’s most famous arena Madison Square Garden housed in NYC of course! Tonight ya gurl J’More will be in the building reporting to you live via Str8NYC.com’s twitter and Facebook fanpage. So if you have yet to follow us or become a fan…you better do so now!

As for what we can expect tonight…who knows?! It’s MSG in NYC, Jay-Z’s hometown, everything is game. From surprise special guest appearances like maybe Beyonce, Rihanna, Kanye West and who knows Lil’ Wayne might show up. His sentencing was delayed due to a fire at the courthouse, so technically he’s still free to hit as many shows, party it up, and impregnate as many industry chicks as possible. EXCLUSIVE: JOHN LEGEND x VAUGHN ANTHONY AT SOBS IN NYC

Last Thursday ya gurls LexAve & J’More hit up SOBs for a special set where John Legend x Homeschool Records presented Vaughn Anthony for the second time in NYC. After checking out Vaughn Anthony for the 2nd time, it’s no question the man is fine but I can’t help to point out he sounds too much like big bro John Legend. He may not have the same vocal range but his voice is just so similar to the Grammy winner…but either way makes for great eye candy. Aside from that, also in the building was Estelle & Fat Joe…although Estelle was into posing for any flicks, the woman is a true sweetheart but Fat Joe was all for the cameras and inform us he was dropping another album in June. We’ll see if 50 Cent will get on him for that release. Anywho enjoy the pics and video we snagged.

BYE, BYE TO FASHION WEEK AT THE TENTS…

So we missed most of the madness at Fashion Week at Bryant Park in NYC, but we did manage to catch a lil’ bit of it on it’s last day. Though we weren’t granted access to the Tommy Hillfiger show, we did chill at the tents and caught glimpses of Anna Wintour, Russell Simmons, the Gossip Girl crew. We also snagged some goodies from the Starbucks Frappuccino lounge and the Tressemme area…who doesn’t love a lil’ caffeine boost and some great hair products. Not to mention the tents made for some good people watching…check out some flicks off the general view of atmosphere at the Starbucks Frappuccino Lounge & the rest of the tents during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week…Enjoy!
