Check out the Queen of Hip Hop Soul, Mary J. Blige, gracing the cover of Ebony magazine’s October issue…on stands now! In the cover issue MJB sets the record straight those rumors, her demons and her soulmate. Below find a few magazine scans of the issue.
Sidenote: I’m not going to even address that horrible and non-flattering photo of MJB on the cover. I mean…look at her face…she just looks pissed and annoyed. Lol.

After skimming through the piece, MJB brought up a topic that’s been the conversation of my friends and I. Didn’t MJB put out better material and heart felt songs when she was “not” happy? Don’t you miss you the old Mary? It’s no question that depression, heart ache and just being in a negative space at times brings the most creative and chart topping songs. And Mary has come a long from those “Be Happy” and “Going Down” days. She’s now happy, both spiritually and emotionally. Do we really want to see MJB back in chaos and pain?

Interview Magazine always has such an interesting way of setting up interviews for the mag. It’s always entertaining reading interviews conducted amongst entertainers, artists, designers, etc… This time around, the staff paired Waka Flocka and Tyler the Creator up for an interview. Strange, right but it works.

Waka Flocka had the opportunity of interviewing Tyler with additional assistance from the editorial staff. Tyler has made it known via twitter that he’s a fan of Waka Flocka so reading this was actually really cool.

Check out some of the excerpts from the interview:

FLAME: So would you describe Odd Future as a hip-hop heavy-metal group? Or a punk-rock rap group? How do you describe what you and your crew do?

TYLER: I don’t like either description. I don’t like being put in a box. I just make music, you know? When you’re put in a box, people have a set mind-state of what your music could sound like before they even look into it. Like, if no one ever heard of me, but I’m hip-hop-metal-rock, then they’re already gonna have an expectation of what the music will sound like. Then, when they go in and finally listen to it, it might be different from what they thought, and they could automatically hate it because they already had expectations.

FLAME: Are y’all tryin’ to change the direction of hip-hop?

TYLER: I’m not trying to change the direction of anything. I’m just doing what I wanna do, saying what I wanna say, and if the shit happens to change, then that’s cool. But I just like making the music I like making.

Check out Usher on the cover of Vibe’s October/November 2010 issue. Looks like is trying to re-invent his image and regain his sex symbol status to which he lost the minute he married Tameka Foster. Check out an excerpt from the Usher’s cover story with Clover Hope below:

“I don’t think it was a rebound at all. Some people in my organization felt like it was a rebound, but for me it was business as usual. Were there hard times in the process? Absolutely. I think it was the first time that doubt was ever amongst the opinions. Like, Can he do it again? Is it possible that this can happen? When you have 15 years of a legacy built, it shouldn’t be questionable with one album.”

Now that Usher has managed his way on to top of the charts…he can’t help but wonder do you still find Usher sexy?

UK’s Observer Woman Magazine managed to snag diva Mariah Carey for its January 2010 issue. In this issue, the songstress discusses her breakout role as a social worker in the Lee Daniels directed film “Precious”, her insecurities and racism.

Check out these interesting excerpts…

“I am very insecure about my looks, and I always have been because of being mixed race [Carey's mother is Irish-American and her father was an African-American of Venezuelan descent]. It’s not so weird now, and everyone’s accepting it in a big way, but as a child I felt very, um, out of place and didn’t feel pretty. So taking on that character and having Lee make me older in the way he did, I guess it was freeing because I didn’t have to try in any way to look pretty, and you know, when you grow up with that type of insecurity you don’t always feel pretty.” It is an unexpectedly raw answer. Does she feel pretty now? “Sometimes I feel all right.”

Does she still experience racism? “Yes. It’ll be a mild thing that I’ll get over, but a friend said to me the other day: ‘Oh yeah, you’ll like her –she’s like you, she’s got a black husband’ And I’m like: ‘How many times do I have to tell you – my father was black. My mother’s white. In this country that makes you black, do you understand? I know I’m very light-skinned, but stop doing that!’ It’s one of those things that the world doesn’t quite understand. When I first came to Europe, everybody was asking me: ‘Why do you always have black people in your music videos?’ And I was like, errm, how do I answer this one?”

I just don’t understand why everyone is raving about her role in “Precious”, homegirl was in the movie for like five minutes. #Imjustsayin

Giant: For most of your career, you’ve been very successful at maintaining a private life. But do fans have a right to know about more about you?

AK:”I think with anything, we all need a place where we can close the door and be private. In your own room, in your own house, with your own thoughts. Do I know everything about you? No, and that’s cool. You want a person to know you, and it’s beautiful that people are so interested in your music that they’re interested in what your life is like and what you’re thinking, and what you go through, but…”. “When its just me? In own space with my piano? Nothing gets in the way…”
