MTV rolled out the nominees for the “Hottest Breakthrough MC’s of 2010″ in which 20 candidates were selected including Young Money’s first lady Nicki Minaj, Roc Nation’s first signee J. Cole, Wacka Flocka (WTF?!), Diggy Simmons, Big Sean, and Nipsey Hussle to name a few. Nicki Minaj is the only female rapper in a pack filled with boys, being that there aren’t any new femcees plotting to steal her shine. The Queens Barbie recently chopped it up with DJ Envy and admitted that although she’s stacking her Benjamin’s–she’s still hungry and that she’s solely focused on making her debut album a classic.

“I am still hungry. I’m not hungry in monetary way; I’m hungry like I wanna feel what it’s like to have 10 albums under my belt. I think when you’re a perfectionist — when you are an artist, you want to be great at your craft — sometimes it’s not about money. I feel like I’m still a new artist, I still gotta prove myself, I still have to prove myself to me that I can do this. The features are great — I thank all the artists that gave time, the opportunity to feature with them. But I’m Nicki Minaj, I’m capable of doing what they do. I just wanna get out here and prove it. The album is coming soon. It’s something I can’t date. I’m not rushing it. The album will come when it’s ready, in its natural time.”

You can decide who gets crowned the “Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010″ now until midnight on July 16th. The five MCs with the most votes will be revealed beginning July 19th and the winner will be announced at the “Sucker Free Summit” awards show on July 25th.
