STR8 SNITCHIN’: DID DIGGY SIMMONS GET RECORD DEAL ‘CAUSE DADDY REV RUN?!

Earlier this week news broke of Diggy Simmons officially signing on to Atlantic Records as a solo rap artist.

As of Monday, March 22, 2010, the day after Diggy’s 15th birthday, the deal has been sealed; Atlantic Records has signed Daniel “Diggy” Simmons!!


Such sudden news lead people to think that Diggy was just another product of nepotism…i mean his dad is Revered Run of Run DMC. So did his dad’s rap royalty status + “Simmons” last name have anything to do with Diggy Simmons scoring a record deal? Did we fail to mention Diggy’s uncle is Russell Simmons?

Well in a recent interview squashed those speculations and allegations by stating he got signed on his own. Dad had nothing to do with it.


If nepotism was into play…then why didn’t JoJo Simmons get signed. Ya know from their MTV “Run’s House” JoJo’s been working on his music for a minute and here comes Diggy and shuts it down. Is it because Diggy’s rap skills are better than JoJo’s? Is it because Diggy is cuter than JoJo? Is it because Diggy is more marketable than JoJo?

  • People forget this is not the first case of Simmons Neopotism. Ever recall the Horror core Group “Live Evil”?

    That “made u look vid” was a polished attempt(successful that is)to try to remove doubt bout diggy’s skills. It is so obvivous Cory Gunz is Diggy’s ghost writer.

    However, Diggy will have the right people in his team to make him successful on some level. It’s not like he does not have the resources to help him.

  • So what if he did. There are others in the business that had some help a little help and can’t rap, sing, or talk so that you can understand them. Time will tell if it was worth signing him.   • lets be real most things in life aren’t about what u know but who you know. Fortunately, this young man has skills, so he actually does know. And if that be the case, why isn’t JoJo signed now? Its plenty of lackluster rappers out, I’m sure he could have gotten one. Ray Jis in the business bc of brandy…lol but noones complaining there.

  • Just like the other dude said, I’m from the ghetto (the Soc, Woodtown, TX, Overton rd) and when you from the hood, you know a lot of dudes that rap. Some of the rappers I knew made it, and they did it all on they own, workin 24/7 to afford recordin equipment, inside they house 24/7 to write some material, in they home studio 24/7 to record it and out on the street 24/7 sellin they CDs, then workin 24/7 to get it played in the clubs and radio. But when you the son of somebody in a legendary rap group, you got a lot of help but still he can rap, I just know kinfolk out here rappin for the love and to get theyselves out they neighborhoods

  • first of all yall need to stop being a hater ok yes his daddy help him out so what or i should say and you point is and also he still doing his thing ok he doesnt haft to upload his rap song on youtube to be heard i mean why try so hard when his dad could help and he is trying to inspire you guys to live out your dream ok so stop the hatin and do your thing
