LETOYA LUCKETT STRIVES TO MAKE A NAME FOR HERSELF

LeToya Luckett hasn’t been Destiny’s stepchild for years and after proving she had a chance at a solo career with her debut single and self-titled album which both hit No. 1 on the charts three years ago—LeToya doesn’t want to be labeled as the former member of Destiny’s Child anymore, she wants people to call her by her own name. She tells the Columbus Dispatch,

“I am now formerly the former member of Destiny’s Child. We are now LeToya Luckett. That’s what we’ve been, and that’s what we will continue to say.”

When asked if she feels she’s officially ventured away from her Destiny’s Child past, she says.

“I feel that way now, yes. I think that people are now starting to see who I am as an artist and get to know LeToya Luckett and not so much put all the focus on “former member of.”

While it’s quite evident that LeToya’s relationship with former bandmates Beyonce and Kelly is nowhere near how it used to  during their early days, she insists that when they do run into each other “it’s very cordial”.
