This is ridiculous! Okay, let me get this straight. We fought for equal rights just so we could fight over has better hair?! It’s an ongoing cycle and its sad that we’re teaching this to our young ladies and men. When it comes to beauty, it is in the eye of the beholder. And the beholder in our society is mainstream media and the mainstream audience. It’s been years of constant brainwashing by main stream media and society on the standard of beauty and what’s “good” and what’s “bad”. Believe it or not, this continuous cycle is the first step to encouraging young people on the road to self hate. Have you ever met someone that hates what they look like because of their racial characteristics? I know this is an ongoing argument, but what is the real issue. I love my hair, not “nappy hair” but my hair. You really gotta love your self before you love your attributes.
So what do you do love more yourself or the perception you give?
It’s like what India Arie said: “IT’S NOT WHAT’S ON YOUR HEAD, IT’S WHAT’S UNDERNEATH IT…”
