L.A. REID TALKS JAY-Z & “BLUEPRINT 3″


Seems like everyone is wondering when will Jay-Z drop the Blueprint 3 even the chairman of Island Def Jam, L.A. Reid! According to L.A. Reid, he doesn’t care how the album comes out and he wants Hip-hop to be respected just like other music genres such as Rock and Pop.

On the release of Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 he says:

“We still have an arrangement with Jay-Z. He and I are really good friends, and we enjoy working together, and we’re hoping we could figure it out. If we can’t figure it out, it won’t lessen my interest in his record and in his career. My relationship with him goes much deeper than what company it’s on. To me, the Blueprint 3 is an important album, however it comes out. If it comes out in a cereal box, it doesn’t matter to me. As long as it’s one of the great records of our time”.


To L.A. Reid, Jay-Z and his album embody the vision of Hip-hop being taken seriously as a music genre and not just being viewed as a “hot” trend in music. He says,

“I wanna know that artists like Jay-Z and business people like Jay-Z can have a 40-year career. I wanna see the first hip-hop artist have a 40 year career. I wanna know that hip-hop has the legs, and it wasn’t a trend in music. It wasn’t something that can come and go, but it will stick around and last. No different from rock music, no different from pop music”.


I totally agreed with L.A., ’cause no one seems to take Hip-hop artists seriously like they do with artists from the other music genres.
LexAve: It’ll be great to see Jay-Z get to Bruce Springsteen, U2, Bon Jovi level…that’ll be monumental for hip hop.

  • I don’t know but jigga is putting his career back because of beyonce. I mean we all know wouldn’t have bey released her song writer lyer album in November, there would have been the Blueprint in December. Jay is the one who is getting 40 this year and not beyonce. Beyonce pushes herself in the spotlight all the time like she is the one who is getting 40 this year. its hilirious. She’s so selfish. i think only her career counts. What’s when they have kids? Is jay sitting at home while bey is on the beach fooling with boys?

  • Jay-Z is old and still talking the same old shit like he is 23 years old… that is why hip-hop is not on the same level… the wrong people are put into the limelight all the time! Jay included! He is nice, but his music does not transcend hip-hop!
