COMMON x MICROSOFT INTRODUCE “SOFTWEAR” IN NYC

Author: LexAve  //  Category: EXCLUSIVE PARTY, New Video

After the Vibe & Fader party at Santos, the crew bounced over to Common’s party at Skyline Studios in NYC. Microsoft managed to quietly launched a t-shirt line called “Softwear by Microsoft” in collaboration with recording artist Common. Nice play on words Microsoft…”softwear” vs “software”. Microsoft is definitely pulling in the youth lifestyle with the line, you can call it “geek chic”.

Once inside, it was pretty clear this crowd wasn’t as poppin’ as the Vibe/Fader folks, but hey free food and open bar + Common, not to shabby. We hit the ladies room for a lil’ make-up re-up and quickly got the schmoozing.

Peep the beautifully framed apparel line designs inspired and created by Common. Definitely something to rock!

After about 30 minutes of mingling, walking around the studio, and downing multiple glasses of wine (yes, I’m a wino!), restlessness started to settle in, when suddenly the elevator pulls up to 5th floor, the ceiling to floor metal doors prop open and the paps get the snapping- Common is in the building! While chopping it up with Xtina, I caught a glimpse of the action from the corner of my eye and left Xtina in mid-sentence (sorry, girl!) and hit the press pit. Next thing you know, suprise, surprise- Ari from “Entourage” aka Jeremy Piven was in the building. I love this dude!!!

While working the room, I bumped into 2/3 of Naughty by Nature at the bar. And before making a run to the ladies room, homie Xtina pointed out those Day 26 dudes. What’s with the frumpy silly hats?! Clearly fiending for attention!

After 45 minutes of working the red carpet, Common hit the stage to rock out with Biz Markie. Without any introduction, Biz played “Universal Mind Control“, the crowd went bizirck, prompting Common skip the small talk and jump right into the set…see video below!

Soon after “UMC“, in true Common fashion, he started spitting straight of the dome and after a few bars Biz Markie grabbed a mic and joined in with his beatboxing/rapping set. So HOT!

After 15 minutes or so of working the stage, Common thanked the crowd for their support, gave a few shout outs, and joined the crowd for more one on one time.

Galpals Aishah, GangstarrGirl, Xtina and yours truly were extra hyped after Common’s hot performance. We came, we saw, we conquered!
