RUMORMILL: DEF JAM GIVING JERMAINE THE AX?!

Nowadays times are not only hard for the poor and the working class, but celebrities are also getting hit with pink slips, foreclosures, tax liens, and mismanagement of funds. The latest celeb to be added to the growing list is So So Def’s head honcho, Jermaine Dupri. Word is  that Def Jam is letting Jermaine go although he’s been working for the label as head of its Urban division and is the reason behind much of its success. Snitches say that Def Jam feels that Jermaine didn’t do a good job working on his boo’s latest album, Discipline, which apparently isn’t poppin’ like her previous albums. They’re also blaming him for MiMi’s E=MC2, which is reportedly having issues with a follow-up single after her smash hit “Touch My Body”. But wait, the drama doesn’t end just yet! He’s even being criticized for Johnta Austin’s projects, Ocean Drive which is going to be on the shelves for eternity and his rumored upcoming Love, Sex, and Religian which hasn’t even been confirmed for release. Jermaine and his mouthpiece haven’t said a word about the rumor and the reps over at Def Jam have also been mum. In financial news, Jermaine is closing the doors to his restaurant, Café Dupri in ATL because he believes the nation’s economic situation has dramatically affected his business. He tells AllHipHop,

“The economy has changed dramatically and people just aren’t eating out as much anymore. People are cutting back everywhere and a lot of companies, including Cafe Dupri, are feeling the effect. For the past two months business at the Cafe has been down and if the business isn’t making money, I feel it’s a smart move to shut it down. Bottom line: If it doesn’t make money, it doesn’t make sense”.

However, the employees at Café Dupri have a bone to pick with Jermaine. They claim that they haven’t been paid for weeks because of faulty checks and that nothing was done to even compensate them fully. But, Jermaine’s mother, Tina Mauldin who served as CEO for the restaurant claims that all the workers have been fully paid. Damn, Lemme find out JD’s writing bad checks. SMH…do I hear lawsuits coming?! JD needs to ease up on the boo loving with Miss Janet and focus on his business…
