Once again ya gurl hit the night on the town, this time I witnessed the Ryan Leslie Experience courtesy of NextSelection and Universal at Bijoux Lounge in NYC. Upon arrival a group of seven including myself were escorted to an exclusive underground spot in a resturant. (Very chic) The second I caught a glimpse of the venue it clearly resembled Ryan’s style…grown & sexy with a hint of soul. Unlike most pre-madonna type celebrities, Ryan showed up at a decent hour, mingled with everyone, posed for the cameras with almost everyone in the room, and seemed overall grateful and hella happy. Dude came off real humble and just so thankful- you couldn’t help but feel happy too- it’s contagious. Moving on to the album, there were a couple of joints I’d co-sign, a few shared a similar sound thus hendering his display of musical range. But overall I give the album a solid B. Throughout the night, the DJ repeated two joints back to back- his current single “Addiction” and his next joint “How It Was Supposed Be” (I think)…clearly there was a method to the madness ’cause on my home I couldn’t stop huming the tune, yes very addictive. Other guests in the building included many Universal folks, Mario Winans, Peter Gunz (think, “Deja Vu- Uptown baby, Uptown baby”), as well as many magazine editors and industry tastemakers. To my surprise, Diddy or Cassie were MIA, let me find out there’s something more to this, hmmm…(let me stop insinuating) On a whole, it was an absolute grand slam evening thanks to the open bar and delish gourmet provided…Sidebar: the dessert selection was OFF THE CHAIN, props to the chef!
