Last night ya gurl attended a star studded industry party for Nas’ Untitled album release at Red Bull Space in NYC. Though I comtemplated hitting up N.E.R.D/Paper Magazine for a sec, I skipped out after seeing the crowd of people awaiting admittance (Deuces, I don’t do LONG lines). I trekked on over to the Nas party and to my surprise I was one of the first people on line- translation, easy access. As the night progressed- it appeared to be a well put together event quickly turned into a HAM! Shortly after 11pm, the entrance was swormed with folks, people pushing, security yelling “Take 5 steps back!”, overall CHAOS! Though there was a red carpet, VIP folks including LL Cool J, Fabolous, and Jermaine Dupri slipped up the backway (Sorry, papz!). And get this, even some Def Jam reps and celebs were given a hard time at the door…WOW! I even caught a glimpse of what looked like to be Young Buck waiting to get in…unfortunately he wound up bouncin’ minutes later. I eventually managed to keep my ass in one place and enjoyed the party thanks to the open bar and DJ Cassidy spinning some hot old school joints. As for the man of the hour, he didn’t show up until 1am. Nas & his Suge Knight looking goons made their way (literally, pushing and shoving) to the VIP section. It was then I got into full paparazzi mode, snuck my way into the VIP area and began the snapping. Unfortunately due the man-made barcade around Nas, I could only get but so close…so enjoy the pics. As for his wifey, Kelis, she was MIA at the party but I did hear she attended his concert earlier in the evening at the Blender Theater (check out AllThatsFAB). Big ups to Linda of Cornerstone for the invite.

That’s me, LexAve, posing with Bentley. Note to self, ‘friends don’t let other drunk friends take pictures’.

Peep the atmosphere, nice set-up. With DJ Cassidy on the set, Crazy Legs and the Retro Kids got the crowd going with their ill moves.

Queen Pen was also in the building. Shorty must have something brewing ’cause she’s been hitting the industry events hard lately.

Check out Nas chillen with LL Cool J…see I told you his goons were huge!

I was there too, alot of the Gay People from the Kimora Lee party flocked over to Nas’s party making it more of a plastic event than it was. This party was no different than any party (besides Puffs BET party a the Hotel in the Highlands and Steve Rifkind Mansion party) in LA during BET awards. ITs a hurry up and wait affair where Your Pray that your name is on a guest list just to go in the party to black berry your friends whose not there. The Club Scene is becoming more plastic and the more we let the Gays and the Soft Corny people control the door, the more doomed this culture is headed. Those “Retro Kids”, who attended the party, are a slap in the face to those who really come from that golden age era. You don’t mix dookie ropes and African medallians with neon flat tops. Call Me a “hater” cuz thats what anyone with an opinion is called nowadays. But Please report what a disappointment that Party was for New York and dont become apart of the very problem thats killing this culture.

Thank you for your response. But You must be an American Citizen talkin that “Queers Rule” crap. Where I come from its “Boom Bye Bye to a Batty Bwoy Head, Rudeboy don”t promote no nasty mon dem affi dead”. I’m sorry but I’m a die hard Nas fan gay people shouldn’t be at no Nas door with a Nas guest list. Gays should be at they own Christopher Street functions and no where near a function like Nas’s album release party, a prodigal sun of Queensbridge who subscribes to the Lessons of the Five Percent Nation. I’m no Muslim, I’m no Gay Basher. But I’m a human with an opinion that wouldn’t attend a party if the flamboyant batty bwoy has to set it off for me to get some after the club(sorry but I go to club to drink and socialiZe, I past the getting some era). And the plastic society in Hip Hop is killing the culture. Why struggle to get in the club just to blackberry your peoples, you could have stayed outside or at home for that. Its time for everything to make sense and if your still living in that world that don’t make sense then yes you will call me ignorant. Until then read a book by Eckhart Tolle and stop attending parties for the sake of pullin out your blackberry. Read more books and fix your credit.

I stopped hanging Word Up pictures on my Wall so I don’t have a favorite celeb. I read Wall Street Jornal, u read mediatakeout, talkin that favorite celeb ABC at the playground crap. Like I said before your sour ass interrupted was, the plastic society. And flambouyant batty bwoys in Hip Hop is killing the culture.
