DROPOUTS PROMOTE STAYING IN SCHOOL…
TweetEntertainers for Education Alliance (EEA), Hot 97, and Catapult Online have enlisted the help of celebrities to present the 2nd Annual “Stay In School Concert” on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. The concert features performances and appearances by Lil Mama, ANTM winner Jaslene Gonzales, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana, Kevin Liles and others. DJ Cipha Sounds of will be hosting this event as well as stress the the importance of an education and how imperative it is to stay in school. According to the Executive Director of EEA Tonya Lewis, “Everyday in NYC, 500 students drop out of highschool. New York State has the highest drop out rate for Black and Hispanic students of any state in the nation. We’ve brought together some of the coolest music, sports, Hip-Hop and R&B artist who support education.” I feel that this is a positive thing, but why bring in rappers who have already made it clear that finishing school isn’t even important because they’ve quote on quote “made it”? The only individuals who need to tell our youth to stay in school are those who actually kept their ass’s in school! Anyway, sponsors of this event include Vitamin water, White Castles, Lot 29, Catapult Online, and Hot 97. Partners include Vibe Magazine, Black Beat Magazine, and Right On Magazine. The “Stay In School” concert takes place on Oct. 17 at 5-8 p.m.

500 a day!…Unbelievable…Why don’t they have a change the curriculum Day!
